HOW JIM CARREY’S FAITH LAUNCHED HIS CAREER

And from our research, we found he didn’t join any forms of cults, we think...

The Man Of Many Masks

Jim Carrey. The man who can contort his face and body to any character he chooses. The man who has entertained you, probably several times, whether it be a movie, a show, or an interview.

Quite a likable lad, that guy. But to become one of the top Hollywood actors is a pretty daunting goal, so figuring out how he got there is whirlwind of things.

But in that whirlwind, there is a nugget, a lesson, that we can pull out. Something Jim used throughout his life, that eventually led to his renound success:

Unwavering, undeniable faith.  And not religious faith.

But what does that even mean? Well, I’m glad you asked.

A Young Carrey

Jim was exposed to humor extremely early on in his life. Good humor, I guess we should say. His dad was known to be a jokester, and Jim even said guests would “leave the house with pee stains.”

This heavily influenced Jim, and he seemed to get the funny gene himself. He would spend hours looking in the mirror at himself. He would do different faces, and he didn’t have a need for anything else. It was all a bore.

This led to his comedy performing exceptionally well. The way Jim was able to move around on stage, morph his face, and become celebrities that the audience knew, was what led to people falling in love with his comic style.

Not only was Carrey working hard though, but he had one other thing that was propelling him full speed towards his goal, which was belief that he could get there.

Mulholland Drive

It was a warm night in Los Angeles. Like most summer nights. The city was loud, but the noise became normal. The Milky Way was visible, but with all those lights it was hard to see.

The further away from the noise you got, the louder the mind became. Whirling around the windy roads felt natural, like it could be done eyes closed and half asleep. Finally, there it was.

Mulholland Drive.

All the way at the top. It seemed so still, yet the entire city was moving like it always had without worry. Atop the hill stood Jim Carrey.

Jim went here every single night, and sit on the side of the road.

“I’m a popular actor. Every director wants to work with me,” said Jim. He would open his arms and feel those things coming his way. But it wasn’t just the affirmation.

“I would stay up there until I actually believed that I had all these things, and then I would drive down the mountain feeling like the biggest star in Hollywood.”

10 Million Dollars

Jim wrote a check for himself for $10 million. It wasn’t fancy. Just a ripped piece of paper, a number, and Acting Services Rendered written as the sender. But he didn’t do this so he could send $10 million to himself. We’ve tried that, and the bank will not accept it.

He gave himself a few years.

He did this as a reminder of his goal. Something he could carry around with him at all times of the day, and one day he could pull that thing out of his wallet and give a good story.

And that’s actually what happened. Because years later, he made $10 million from his movie “The Mask.” Then he made $10 million from “Dumb and Dumber.”

Jim was hitting back to home runs. Grand slams, actually. In pretty short periods of time too. It was explosive, almost as if there was something building up, and once it started snowballing, it really started snowballing.

Belief

There are levels to success. A lot of people talk mindset, and not skills. Other people talk only skills, and never deal with mindset. But both parts of the equation are needed.

Jim worked hard. He practiced routines. Did stand up. Got a lot of criticism and crowds that never laughed. It sucked for some time.

But he also believed entirely in the power of manifestation. Whether through logic or beyond it, he knew that he would lose nothing from feeling into his ideal reality. So he did. It was more than just affirming.

Jim actually felt like it was happening, even though it wasn’t. And people think this is woo woo. Yet there are people like Jim who have proven whether we know it or not, there may just be something to this whole thing.

The Power of Belief

A lot of things give us energy. Coffee. Sleep. Coke. Soda, not the drug. Personally never tried it, but I don’t recommend. Whatever it may be.

But that isn’t always lasting. Imagine, if you will, what it would feel like to have your dream come true. Full seriousness here. The wildest thing you can think of, your most ideal reality. You probably feel a lot better, and more full of life.

Well, imagine feeling like that all the time. Imagine it not being true, but it didn’t matter because you felt like it’s true. After all, what’s the difference? If we feel it to be true, isn’t that the same as it already being done.

Notice you can reap the rewards now to a life you don’t have. And in doing so, you get put on a path to go directly there. If you feel demotivated, uninspired, and 24/7 dread, well doing deep work isn’t all too exciting.

But if you “feel like the biggest actor in Hollywood” like Jim, or whatever your version of that is, and you didn’t stop thinking about it until you truly believed it, you wouldn’t be far off from your dream either.
